Getting started

What is TopDuels?

TopDuels lets you rank lists by choosing between two contenders, building a ranking or playing a tournament. Explore topics you enjoy, compare your preferences with the community and create lists of your own.

Is playing free?

You can browse and play public lists for free. Paid plans add features and customization. The Premium page shows the current plans and whether purchases are available.

See plans and availability
Do I need an account?

You can play public duels as a visitor. Sign in to keep account history, follow players and lists, manage your lists and use social features. Visitor play and account history are different: sign in before a run if you want it saved to your account.

How do I find a list or a player?

Use the search in the header or open Discover. Discover lets you browse categories and refine lists by length, source and sort order. Its category sidebar can be collapsed.

Explore Discover
How do the game modes work?

Duel asks you to choose between two items. Ranking lets you order contenders, and Tournament eliminates contenders until a winner remains. Some lists also offer popularity questions or overrated/underrated judgments. Those two activities do not cast preference votes. Open a list's mode menu to see the available options.

What are Daily and the weekly bracket?

Daily offers the same pair to everyone, with one pick per player and the split revealed after voting. The weekly bracket advances through timed rounds decided by the community. Their schedules use UTC, and each page shows the relevant countdown.

What are My taste, Quests and Recap?

My taste explores your preferences through duels and statistics. Quests track activities you can complete on the site. Recap brings together your activity for the period shown on that page. Some views need an account and enough recorded play to show meaningful results.

Can I play in a live room?

Hosting and joining Live rooms are free. Everyone votes on the same duel before the results appear. Empty sessions close automatically; a lobby abandoned by its host before anyone else joins is deleted. A short reconnect window protects page refreshes, and lost connections expire automatically. Hosts with Creator or Studio can view private participation and duel statistics for their rooms during the 48 hours after creation. Basic room results remain visible to participants.

Lists and rankings

How do I create a list?

Sign in and choose Create. Add a title and contenders, review the images and information, choose the visibility and publish when you are ready. Features and limits depend on the options currently enabled for your account.

Create a list
What do public, unlisted and private mean?

Public lists can be discovered and played by other people. Unlisted lists can be opened by people who have their link, so treat the link as shareable. Private lists are restricted to their owner. Check visibility before sharing a list.

What can I do in Creator studio?

Studio brings together the lists you own, item editing, bulk paste, statistics, suggestions, collaborators, criteria and variants. Available tools depend on your account and the list. Choose a list in the Studio sidebar to work on it.

Open Creator studio
Which images can I use?

Use images you own or are permitted to use, and provide appropriate credits. A credit or an image appearing elsewhere on the internet does not by itself grant reuse permission. Use the support form to report a copyright issue.

Report an image or copyright issue
How can other people suggest contenders?

Use a list's suggestions section when it is available. The owner reviews suggestions before adding them. In Studio, owners can manage suggestions and choose whether everyone or only invited collaborators can suggest items.

How do I rank a list with friends?

Choose Rank with friends on a public or unlisted list, or open Groups. Share the group's invitation link or code, then compare members' rankings inside that group. Joining friends do not need a paid plan.

Open Groups
What is the difference between Save and Subscribe?

Save adds a list to Finish Later. Subscribe follows changes to that list. Following a player adds them to the Players tab in Subscriptions. Folders let signed-in players organize lists into collections of their own.

Open Subscriptions
Can I stop a run and finish it later?

When the game offers Finish later, sign in and use it before leaving. Return through History or Finish Later to resume a saved run. Changing or removing a list's contenders can make an older saved run incompatible.

Open History
Why does the community ranking differ from mine?

Your ranking reflects your own choices. The community ranking combines recorded player preferences and can change as more people participate. Popularity questions and overrated/underrated activities are kept separate from preference rankings.

Can I share or embed a list?

Use the sharing controls or copy the list's link. Public lists also offer embed code in Share & more. An unlisted link can be passed on by anyone who receives it; a private list is not a public embed.

Manage your profile, saved activity and account preferences.

Accounts and privacy

Where can I find my completed rankings?

Open History while signed in and choose Finished. History also has In progress and Saved views. A run must be recorded to your account to appear there; a visitor run is not an account history entry.

View History
What happens if my connection drops while I vote?

Votes and completed results that can be saved on your device are queued automatically. Keep the page open or return to TopDuels: the site retries when the network is available. You do not need a separate Offline page. A timed duel or round that has already closed cannot accept a late vote. Clearing browser storage removes unsent local data.

Can I choose what other people see on my profile?

Yes. Open Settings and choose Privacy to review profile visibility and the activity you share. Account information and public profile settings serve different purposes; the Privacy Policy describes how personal data is handled.

Review privacy settings
How do I change my avatar, profile or display settings?

Use Account in Settings for profile information and Display for appearance preferences. Customize contains available frames, banners and other profile cosmetics. The Settings categories can be collapsed to give the main panel more room.

Open Settings
What should I do if I cannot sign in?

Check that you are using the right email or username and sign-in method. For a password account, use Forgot password on the sign-in form and follow the reset email. Never share your password or a reset link with another player.

Open sign in
How do I report a list, a copyright issue or a moderation decision?

Use Report this list where available, or the support form for content reports, copyright issues and moderation appeals. Include the precise page URL and explain the issue. The support form can also be used without an account.

Reports and requests
How can I request access to or deletion of my data?

Use the data protection request option on the support page. Provide enough information to identify your request, and refer to the Privacy Policy for the process and retention information. Do not put passwords, card details or identity documents in the request form.

Plans and payments

What is the difference between Free, Creator and Studio?

Free covers public play and the account features shown on the plans page, including hosting and joining Live rooms. Creator includes list statistics in Studio, advanced Taste statistics and private statistics for the Live sessions you host. Studio includes those Creator features and adds the AI tools shown for that plan. Check Premium for the current feature list, limits, pricing and availability.

Compare the plans
Can a paid plan change votes or rankings?

No. A subscription does not give your votes extra weight or buy a higher ranking. Promoted lists, when available, are shown in a slot marked Promoted rather than being given a different voting result.

Why do some purchase buttons say they open soon?

A feature can be described before its purchase flow is available. Buttons marked Opens soon are not active offers. You can test the available free parts of the site, and the purchase controls show when an offer is ready.

How are payments and subscription cancellation handled?

Available purchases are processed through Stripe. Use Manage billing on Premium for the billing portal when available, or submit a cancellation request through support. The page and the applicable terms explain the effect of cancellation.

Request subscription cancellation
Can I offer or redeem a gift plan?

Premium has separate forms to offer a gift and redeem a code. Gift purchases depend on availability. Check the form for the supported plans, durations and start conditions before buying or redeeming.

Plans and gifts
Where can I ask about a purchase or a withdrawal request?

Use the support page, select the relevant purchase request and identify the purchase using the account email and useful references. Do not send card details. The applicable terms and the operator's response determine what happens next.

Creators and certification

Who can request a certified badge?

Artists and brands who can show that the account represents them can request certification. Use your own account and provide public evidence of the identity you want certified.

Open the Creator program
What does the badge verify?

It identifies an account approved as representing the named artist or brand. It is not an endorsement of every opinion, list or image published by that account, and it does not change voting results.

How do I apply for certification?

Sign in, confirm your email and open the Creator program. Choose Artist or Brand, give the public name, add a website and proof, then submit the request. Its status appears on the same page.

What proof should I provide?

Provide an official website or social profile that makes the connection between you and the artist or brand clear. Explain how it supports the request. Do not send passwords, private access tokens or identity documents in the message.

Why must I confirm my email first?

The certification form requires a verified account email before a request can be sent. Email confirmation establishes control of your account email; it does not replace the public evidence needed for the badge.

Do I need a paid plan to get certified?

No. Certification is free and does not require Premium. Creator and Studio are subscription plans; the certified artist or brand badge is a separate review.

Where does the badge appear?

Approved certification is shown on your profile, your lists and your comments. The Creator program page includes examples of those placements.

How long does the review take?

A person reviews each request. There is no guaranteed review time. You can return to the Creator program to see whether the request is pending, approved or declined and read any review note.

Can I withdraw a request or remove my badge?

Yes. The Creator program provides controls to withdraw a pending request or remove an approved badge. The team can also revoke a badge if the evidence is no longer valid.

What happens if my request is declined?

Review the decision and any note shown on the Creator program page. You can send a new request with clearer or updated evidence. A paid plan does not override a certification decision.

Are creator earnings or tips available now?

Creator payouts are not open, and no launch date or earnings are promised. You can register interest in tips or revenue sharing on the Creator program page. The conditions will be published before those payment features open.

Does the Would tip signal transfer money?

No. It records a player's interest in supporting a creator. It does not charge that player, create a balance or guarantee any future payment.
